osservazioni

[R.] Iª rappr. A p. 5 Advertisement, datato dicembre 1804: «The author is indebted for the incident of the will to the story bearing that name in Edgworth's popular tales [...] the author prays to urge, in mitigation of judgement, that inevitable circumstances compelled him to make many and material alterations from his original copy, which [...] certainly possessed a much stronger claim to favour in the closet, than the bagatelle now presented»; a p. 7 l'ed. avverte che dispone di una vasta raccolta di testi teatrali (tra i quali le edd. originali di Shakespeare, Jonson, Chapman, Heywood ecc.), provenienti da varie biblioteche private (elenco di nomi); a p. 76 elenco delle ultime novità teatrali.
